Want to kickstart your career in television news?  KRCR has an immediate opening for a creative News Producer to join the #1 news team in beautiful Redding, California! In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day production of our newscasts. This position will also work closely with newsroom leaders, reporters, fellow producers, and the rest of the team on the newscast's content. In this position, you will determine the content and flow of the newscasts, work to generate and write stories, and develop content for our digital and social platforms.  We are seeking a skilled individual with sound news judgment, strong writing and grammar skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues in the newsroom and field crews. Our producers play an important role in newsgathering across all of our platforms.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Solid news judgment


• Be a compelling and accurate writer


• Be able to multitask and manage time to put together an exciting and informative newscast


• Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment


• Strong leadership and communication skills


• The ability to execute news strategies and goals in daily newscasts


• Flexibility and on-the-spot problem-solving abilities are a must


• Strong knowledge of social media platforms


• Proficient with non-linear editing (i.e., Avid) and newsroom systems, such as iNews

Experience:

• At least 1 year of newsroom experience at a commercial or college TV station is desired, although the right entry-level candidate may be considered


• A journalism degree is preferred

The base hourly compensation range for this role is $17.50 to $18.85 per hour. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
